Mazy and Cousin

Andy Barclay, the excellent tennis coach from the Royal Berkshire Racket Club in Bracknell commissioned me to paint his daughter and his niece as a gift for his mother on Mother’s Day. I like the way that the younger Mazy exploded forward towards and out of the image, and AT you, whereas her slightly older cousin has learned a little self-consciousness; has begun to develop her photograph pose, as we all inadvertently develop as we grow older. She slinks back slightly, she’s _cooler, _more reserved, and it shows. Funny how those couple of extra years make a difference. Two very happy looking girls, nonetheless.
