The Charity
The Prince's Trust had a stand at the Reading Contemporary Art Fair, and all of the participating artists were asked to supply a miniature 8"x8" canvas, in any style or medium, to be sold for £45 for the charity. There were 100 stands so there was some serious money to be raised, potentially. Unsure of what to do, I finally settled on a portrait of the man himself.
On the Friday, I went over to the Prince's Trust stand and the lovely Alison Mihail MBE told me that she was over joyed with the portrait and that it would be given pride of place, at the top, in the centre. She then informed me that in fact, it wouldn't be for sale, and that she was going to take it to all of the exhibitions as a centrepiece.
By the Sunday, Alison told me she could have sold it a few times, and that someone, when she wasn't there, did buy it - so she ran over to him before he left and gave him back his money and retrieved the portrait.
Alison wants to show Charles himself at an upcoming Summer party where he will be in attendance. I think that the exhibition was worth it just for this moment!
